About

Gabriela Loza is a Mexican-American award winning filmmaker originally from Southern California. She started in Hollywood as a set painter/carpenter and prop fabricator and moved into production design. Gabriela has lived in Australia for the last 10 years where she attended International Film School Sydney.


ERASED (short 2021) is Gabriela's first film as writer/director. Erased premiered at Celludroid in South Africa, where it won ‘Best Live Action Short Film’. In August 2022, Erased won 'Best Australian Short Film' at the Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival. To date, Erased has screened at 18 international festivals and garnered 13 awards and 10 nominations.


Gabriela was recently awarded 'Rising Star - First Time Filmmaker' at Sci-On Film Festival 2022 in Reno Nevada, USA. She was also awarded 'Best Set Design - Short' at the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival 2022, Miami, Florida, USA. where she received a nomination for 'Best Director – Short'.


Gabriela is currently finishing, ‘Tattooed”, which is in post-production. Tattooed is Gabriela’s second short film as writer/director.  She is also interested in developing Erased as a feature film.
